Ministries in the Making:

Here are some of the exciting ministries we are hoping to develop over the next few months.  Please contact us if you are interested in becoming involved in any of these new opportunities.

  • The Shepherds:  We have many children in our congregation that, for various reasons, have a hard time participating in our children’s programs.  We will be training qualified teens to be “shepherds” for these children, coming up alongside them and helping them as needed in Sunday School, Children’s Choir, KOK, Youth Adventurers, etc.  If you have a child who may benefit from this program, or know a teen who would be a good candidate for this ministry, please let us know.

  • Parents of Little Ones:  A play on the MOLO theme, POLO is a group that hopes to gather parents of young children for bible studies, barbeques and picnics, baby-sitting pools, service opportunities, arts activities, parents nights out, fellowship and support, etc.  Contact Mark and Megan Town for more information: 818-613-6695.

  • Single Parent Outreach:  We all know how hard it is to be a single parent.  Lee Stillman is seeking to organize a support group for single parents that can offer everything from bible studies to child care to social activities, so that those parents can be as involved in the congregation as they would like to be.  If you would like to help Lee with this meaningful and necessary ministry, please contact him at leestillman@sbcglobal.net.

  • "Unofficial Angels" Transportation:  Do you work from home or are you a stay-at-home parent?  Imagine getting a call from the school nurse telling you your child has a fever and you need to come pick them up.  Not a big deal, unless you have no car.  Imagine the bus ride across town, imagine picking up your limp child and returning to the bus stop, waiting 15-20 minutes, getting back on the bus with that sick child and carrying them back home.  Karen Nelson is a Newhall School District nurse and this scenario is common.  Many children are bussed out of their neighborhood to their elementary school and many of their families do not have a car at their disposal.  Karen would love a list of willing drivers who could be called in an emergency to transport mom to school and transport mom and child back to their home in such cases as these.  If you are available during the day and could help a family in need, please email me and I will get the list to Karen: robin@come2christ.com.

These are, as I said, “ministries in the making”.  If you would like to get involved in any of these opportunities, or have an idea for a new ministry and would like help getting it started, please contact me @ robin@come2christ.com.

In Christ,

Robin Hyland

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
