So anyway, I was thinking about friends... Posted on: 11/06/2007
So anyway, I was thinking about friends and how sometimes friendships are strained. Sometimes ties are severed because of
silly things, as was the case (I believe) with me and a friend of mine.
The friendship seemed to have completely ended, and we didn't talk for
a whole summer, which for us was a very long time. By God's
intervention we met up again at church when our kids resumed their
weekly religion class together. I was shocked to see her because her
involvement with church had been previously through me. I mustered up
enough courage to tell her I had missed her and hoped we could catch
up. She seemed happy about it too, and I think we are in the process of
being friends again. At least I hope so. And I know without a doubt
that God wanted us to patch things up, or at least not leave things the
way they were. It didn't matter who's fault it was before, or what
caused our friendship to end. All that mattered was what God wanted,
and I hope she sees it that way too.
Sometimes it's WE who have to make the
first move, and it's we who have to put away our pride and do what God
wants-- even though it's hard, and we don't think it's our job to do
so. Living with resentment, anger, and hatred is such a waste of time
and energy. But if we give it to God (as I often tell my Sunday school
students), we are left with peace and comfort, knowing God works for
us, to prosper us, and always takes care of everything. We are made to
live for God, in His ways, that glorify Him. And I'm glad I found my
friend again that night.
I encourage each of you who have strains
in whatever relationship, (friend or family) to make the move to repair
any damage between you, and give it to God. Pray for resentments,
anger, and bitterness to be taken from you so that you can move
forward. This does in fact, go along with my last e-mail about being
"engaged". So I hope this finds you a little more encouraged and light
hearted.
Please know that these thoughts just come to me, and I think they are God inspired! Have a great day!!
