OUR HISTORY

Christ Lutheran Church began in the Santa Clarita Valley as a mission church. The first worship service, led by Pastor C.I. (Jerry) Lund, took place on October 22, 1961 with 127 people present. The congregation formally organized in 1962 with 176 baptized adult and child members.

In the early years the congregation met in a variety of locations, beginning at what was then the Saugus Rollerama. In 1971 the congregation purchased the current site on Tournament Road and built a multi-purpose building that functioned as worship center, office space, Sunday school, and eventually preschool. A separate preschool building was added in 1986, an education building in 1995, and a beautiful, new sanctuary and administrative facility, along with a youth center, opened in January, 2004.

Pastor Paul Kloth took up the pastoral leadership of the congregation in 1970, serving until 1999. Pastor Joe Campeau has served as Senior Pastor since 1999.

Today Christ Lutheran Church is a faith community of nearly 1500 baptized members consisting of families, singles, young and old, people from a variety of church backgrounds and those with no church background, coming together to encourage each other in following Jesus and living out our shared faith.
